Songpress 1.9.0 released (06-Jan-26 19:05)

Happy Epiphany from the Songpress team!

Today, we are releasing a new version of Songpress: 1.9.0. The main goals of this release are:

  • Code cleanup and modernization
    Simplify and modernize the codebase so that Songpress can be built against recent versions of its dependencies, in particular wxPython.
  • Installation system overhaul
    Songpress is now published on PyPI and can be installed on both Linux and Windows using standard tools such as pipx or uv.

Happy New Year from the Songpress team!

Today, we are releasing the Release Candidate of a new version of Songpress: 1.9.0. The main goals of this release are:

Songpress 1.8 released (05-Apr-21 10:01)

We are happy to release a new version of Songpress!

Songpress 1.8 comes with new long-awaited features:

  • Text formatting: font face, size and color of lyrics and chords may be changed, according to [Chordpro specifications (https://www.chordpro.org/chordpro/directives-props_text_legacy/)
  • Song subtitle: you may add a subtitle below the song title
  • Export as text file: your songs may be exported as simple text (TXT/TAB) files, with chord above lyrics
  • Songpress portable: as an additional distribution format, we provide a portable version of Songpress. No installation required! Just unzip and run Songpress.exe.
  • German translation by Axel Schneider
  • Refined chord notations: German/Scandinavian and Traditional German have been differentiated

Songpress 1.7 released (10-Feb-19 15:59)

We are happy to release a new version of Songpress!

The most important change in Songpress 1.7 is under the wood: we modernized our framewok, by upgrading our code to run on Python 3 and and wxPython 4 (Phoenix) series.

Songpress 1.6 released, fork it on GitHub! (28-Nov-15 16:47)

Songpress 1.6 introduces the following features:

  • Windows 10 compatibility
  • Different output for different usage: chords are not always useful. For a large lead sheet, chords on every single verse are welcome, but for a small leaflet one could prefer to put chords only on the first verse and on the (first) chorus, in order to save space, or even to remove chords completely (for example for singers).
